No one knows when they were built. The carved steps on the towers are worn from endless ages of footsteps ascending into the sky. No one knows where they lead. We know only that they go up...and up...and up out of sight. Now and then someone will climb the steps until they fade from sight. They never return. A few have climbed only a short distance making sure to keep the ground within eyesight and return. They spend the rest of their existence insane and speaking of odd sounds, images and vibrations. Maybe someday I will make the journey, climb the steps and pierce the veil.
